Venucia R50X will hit the China car market in November
The Venucia R50X will be launched on the China car market in November, price will range from 80.000 to 100.000 yuan. The R50X is a cross variant of the Venucia R50 hatchback, it will debut on the Chengdu Auto Show in September and launched on the China car market before the end of this year. Venucia is a sub-brand of the Dongfeng-Nissan joint venture, the R50 is based on the old Nissan Tiida hatchback.
The Venucia R50 hatchback. Price starts at 68.800 yuan and ends at 59.900 yuan. Lone engine is an old Nissan 1.6 with 116hp and 153nm, mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. The Venucia R50X gets the same engine, and price will start just above 70.000 yuan.
The R50X gets the usual cross-treatment with skid-plates front and back, extra black plastic around the bumpers, on the wheel arches, and between the wheels. Finishing touch is the roof rack, which will no doubt work very well together with the rear-roof spoiler. All the extra plastic means the R50X will be much heavier than the R50, and so it will be slower and use more fuel. Chinese car buyers however don’t care about all that, they want to be ‘individual’, like going to the mountains in the weekend even if they never go, and they think a cross-car fits within their want.
