Shanghai (ZXZC)- Chinese battery giant, CATL, announced a cutting-edge battery technology, called the Condensed Battery, at the Auto Shanghai 2023, which boasts a single-cell energy density of up to 500 Wh/kg.

The new battery achieves both high energy density and high level of safety, and is set to go into mass production later this year.

The CATL Condensed Battery is designed to meet aerospace-grade standards, and according to Wu Kai, the Chief Scientist of CATL, the company is currently collaborating on a civil electric passenger aircraft project, carrying out aerospace-grade standards and testing to meet the high safety and quality requirements of aviation.

Wu Kai commented that the Condensed Battery is a significant breakthrough for CATL in the battery industry. The Condensed Battery is characterized by its high safety, reliability, and long cycle life. The battery can be mass-produced rapidly. CATL is expected to launch automotive-grade products with this new technology soon.
