New Ford Mondeo will hit the China car market on August 29
The new Ford Mondeo will finally hit the China car market on August 29 and the first cars have arrived at Ford dealers throughout China. Pre-sales have started with price ranging from 189.900 yuan to 275.900 yuan. The Ford Mondeo is made in China by the Chang’an-Ford joint venture.
There will be two engines available: a 2.0 turbo with 240hp or 200hp, and the new Ecoboost 1.5 liter turbo four-cylinder with 181hp and 240nm, both mated to a 6-speed SelectShift.
The China-made Ford Mondeo debuted in April on the Shanghai Auto Show. Buyers and dealers have waited eagerly for the Mondeo, and sales are expected to sky high very fast. The Mondeo will compete with fine cars such as the Toyota Camry, Nissan Teana, and Volkswagen Passat.
Chinese crowds just love the looks of the new Mondeo, with page after page full of positive comments on blogs and BBS’. The fact that the Mondeo looks like an Aston is a plus in China, without anybody accusing Ford of copying stuff.
