Shanghai (ZXZC)- GAC Group announced on Thursday it sold 231,735 vehicles in the third month of 2023, representing an 1.87% year-over-year growth.

Compared to the previous month, the group’s Mar. sales surged 43.74%.

Among its subsidiaries, GAC Toyota still outperformed others with a Mar. sales volume of 81,300 units, which dropped 16.19% from the previous year. It was immediately followed by GAC Honda, whose Mar. sales dipped 8.75% from a year earlier to 70,110 units.

The new energy vehicle (NEV)-dedicated GAC AION still represented a robust year-on-year soar in Mar. sales, at 97%.

For the first quarter of this year, GAC Group’s cumulative sales dwindled 11.23% from the same span in 2022.

Despite the overall downturn, GAC AION still saw its Jan.-Mar. sales zoom up 74.53% over a year ago.

The group said its NEV sales came in at 44,079 units last month, shooting up 89.83% from the year-ago period.

For the first three months of 2023, GAC Group sold 86,951 NEVs in total, indicating a 64.62% soar year-over-year.

GAC Group exported 5,170 vehicles in Mar. 2023 (+67.6% YoY), resulting in a first-quarter export volume of 10,011 units (+74.5% YoY).There were a total of nine vehicle models whose respective Mar. sales all exceeded 10,000 units, namely, the AION S (26,392 units), the Accord series (22,501 units), the Camry series (21,137 units), the AION Y series (13,267 units), the Frontlander (12,505 units), the Breeze series (12,181 units), the Wildlander (11,921 units), the Levin series (10,301 units), and the Integra series (10,101 units).
