Car and City: Wuling Hongguang MINIEV scores 8.52% YoY growth in Feb. 2023 registrations

In the second month of 2023, there were 30,228 Wuling Hongguang MINIEVs registered across the Chinese mainland, representing an 8.52% year-on-year growth and a 67.51% month-on-month surge, according to the data compiled by ZXZC Auto Research Institute ("GARI").

Regarding the Feb. 2023 registration volume, the Hongguang MINIEV regained the champion honor among all China-made new energy vehicle (NEV) models registered on the Chinese mainland, outnumbering the runner-up model (the Tesla Model Y) by 4,439 units.

As for the regional distribution for last month, Liuzhou, one of the model's production bases, still registered the most Hongguang MINIEVs. It was immediately followed by Wuhan, whose monthly registrations of the popular model stood at 792 units last month.

Notably, half of the cities on the list of top 10 cities by the Feb. registrations of the Wuling Hongguang MINIEV were from Henan province.

For the first two months of this year, the year-to-date registrations of the Hongguang MINIEV reached 48,273 units, sliding 16% from a year earlier. As of Feb. 2023, the model’s cumulative registrations added up to 964,397 units.

Among cities, there were three cities with over 1,000 Hongguang MINIEVs registered in the Jan.-Feb. period, namely, Liuzhou, Wuhan, and Shangqiu.
