Great Wall Motor sets 8th domestic vehicle base in Taizhou, Jiangsu province

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Great Wall Holdings Limited recently inked an agreement with Taizhou government of Jiangsu Province to build a new complete vehicle base at Taizhou Port Economic Development Zone, according to local media. This is the eighth vehicle base in China for Great Wall Motor following the bases at Yongchuan, Zhangjiagang and Rizhao.

Involving an investment of RMB8 billion for early stage, the Taizhou program contains such manufacturing projects as complete vehicle, exterior & interior as well as chassis. Besides, the automaker and government also plan some supporting businesses like automobile finance, automobile insurance and car-sharing service for the new base to build a complete automotive industry chain there. 

Great Wall Motor is accelerating the construction and deployment of vehicle production bases. It vehicle plant at Yongchuan, Chongqing, which focuses on the production of Great Wall-branded premium pickups and the Haval H9, is set to be completed at the end of 2019. Apart from the latest Taizhou base, the automaker has already had a total of 7 completed car bases and under-construction programs in the Bohai Economic Rim, the Yangtze River Delta Economic Region and Southwest China, covering SUVs, picks and new energy vehicles. 

In the meantime, the automaker is also expediting the plants’ construction outside China, having hands in 19 key markets across the world. Its self-owned vehicle plant in Tula, Russia will start production this year.
