A very funky and very black Honda CR-X del Sol, seen in the great city of Shanghai by reader & serial spotter Navigator 84. The Honda CR-X del Sol was a small front-wheel drive targa-top roadster based on the Honda Civic platform, it was the successor of the 1997-1991 Honda CR-X.

The CR-X del Sol (‘of the sun’ = targa) was produced from 1992 until 1998 and sadly never exported to China, how this rare Honda ended up in Shanghai is therefore a yet unsolved mystery.

Fake Acura badge on the back, the CR-X del Sol was sold as a Honda in every market where it went. This particular vehicle is likely a US-spec car, recognizable by the VTEC badge above the side-indicator. The VTEC trim level was only available in the United States. This car is made extra pretty with tinted windows, a white fuel cap, and matte gray alloys.

Power came from a high-revving naturally aspirated 1.6 liter four cylinder. Output was 160 hp @ 7600 rpm and 150 nm @ 7500 rpm. Redline @ 8200 nm. Transmission was a 5-speed manual.  A fantastic little racer, if you like shifting gears…
