Lenovo invests in Beijing-based battery maker WeLion
Beijing (ZXZC)- China’s battery maker Beijing WeLion New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (WeLion) recently added computer giant Lenovo to its list of shareholders, according to China’s corporate database Tianyancha.

Founded in 2016, WeLion is devoted to the R&D and manufacturing of solid-state lithium batteries. The company formed strategic cooperation with multiple Chinese automakers, including NIO and Geely.
In an effort to expand its production capacity, WeLion set plans for the construction of four manufacturing bases in Beijing city, Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province, and Shandong Province.
In November this year, WeLion completed its Series D financing, which raised for the company nearly 1.5 billion yuan ($215 million). Up to now, the battery maker has closed eight financing rounds, attracting such investors as Xiaomi, NIO, Huawei, Geely, and CICV.
On the other hand, on November 9, 2022, Lenovo for the first time introduced its deployment and recent achievement in the automotive computing field at the company’s Lenovo Tech World 2022 event.
The computer maker said that its automotive computing operation is committed to building smart cockpits, autonomous driving, and smart display products. The company plans to provide customers with different computing platforms based on different application scenarios, and offer operating system software, middleware, and rich application development environment based on these computing platforms.
