A very black W140 Mercedes-Benz 500 SEC, seen in Beijing by reader Ali Khalili, thank you for the pictures! The Mercedes-Benz W140 S-Class was made from 1991 until 1998, the 500 SEC coupe was made only in the 1992 and 1993 model years. The W140 coupe was never officially exported to China so how this black beauty ended up in the capital is yet a mystery.

The 500 SEC was powered by a mighty 5.0 V8, good for 330hp and 479nm. The example seen in Beijing seems in perfect condition, keeping it that way won’t be cheap because parts are very hard to get in China. Fortunately the owner of this great Benz doesn’t mind spending a few yuan on his fantastic vehicle. This is the first W140 coupe we see in China, but we did meet quite some W140: S600, Pullman S6000, S500 with W210 E, motorcade, motorcade, S500, crash, body kit, S500 in white, S600, and another S600.
