For the first eleven months of 2022, the NEV manufacturer delivered 241,149 vehicles in total, representing a 128% hike compared to the corresponding period in 2021.

On Nov. 3, GAC AION launched its new-generation platform dedicated to premium battery electric vehicles (BEVs), named AEP 3.0, which will be applied in the models under AION's Hyper premium car brand first.

According to GAC AION, the AEP 3.0 platform boasts a supercar-level electric drive technology. Using the X-PIN flat wire and intelligent multi-mode gear shifting technologies, the platform enables a vehicle to zip from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds driven by one electric motor and in as low as 1.9 seconds under the two-motor-drive condition.

The first model riding on the AEP 3.0 platform is the Hyper SSR, which starts at 1.286 million yuan ($182,270) in presale, and is expected for volume production and delivery in Oct. 2023, according to Zhang Xiong, deputy general manager of GAC AION.

Another significant technical fruit unveiled last month is the Xingling electrical and electronic (E/E) architecture, which is expected to be first used in the Hyper vehicles as well.

The Xingling E/E architecture features one of the world's most powerful sensing system to improve smart vehicles' safety, said the carmaker. The system is composed of 39 sensors, including three second-generation LiDAR units with variable focal lengths.
