NIO added it will establish sales and service networks in these countries to directly serve its users. The NIO center in Berlin is about to open for business. In other cities, such as Hamburg, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Goteborg, NIO Centers are under construction and will be put into use soon.
In addition, NIO will further improve the deployment of its power network in Europe. The company said it has had access to 380,000 charging piles and its European-spec charging map has been put into use as well. It plans to deploy 20 battery swap stations in Europe by the end of 2022, and raise the total number to 120 by the end of 2023.
The company aims to build 1,000 battery swap stations outside China by 2025, most of which will be located in Europe.
As for R&D investment, NIO set up an innovation center in Berlin this year to work on R&D of intelligent cockpit, autonomous driving, and energy technologies. On Sept. 16, NIO's Power Europe Plant in Hungary delivered its first Power Swap Station to Germany. Notably, NIO Power Europe Plant, as NIO's first overseas plant, is the manufacturing, service, and R&D center for NIO's power products in Europe.
