The product expansion is a strategic step in the auto giant’s full-speed launch to electrification in 2023. With the BMW i7 unveiled in China, BMW has introduced five BEV models in the world’s largest auto market, including the BMW iX, the BMW i4, the BMW iX3, and the BMW i3. According to the company’s plan, its BEV lineup will greet several new models, including the made-in-China BMW iX1, the Rolls-Royce SPECTRE, and the BMW Motorrad CE04.

Upon completion of the expansion, BMW will have the most complete BEV lineup among all luxury brands in China, covering almost all market segments, the carmaker said.

Moreover, BMW is also reinforcing its layout in power batteries. In November, the German automaker announced a major expansion of power battery production at its Shenyang production base. The project is funded by BMW Brilliance with a total investment of about 10 billion yuan ($1.43 billion).
