Gotion High-Tech obtains mining rights in Yichun city

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Chinese power battery maker Gotion High-Tech announced via its WeChat account that its majority-owned subsidiary, Yichun Gotion Mining Co., Ltd., on Nov. 28 obtained the rights to mine for porcelain clay (including lithium) in a local mining zone in Yichun city, Jiangxi province, marking a major move regarding its raw materials deployment.

The validity period for Gotion High-Tech's new mining rights shall be five years, said the company. The battery maker eyes a designed production capacity of 3 million tonnes per year at the aforesaid mining area dubbed "Geshili", which is located in Yifeng county.

The new move came after Yichun Gotion Mining attained the rights to prospect for porcelain clay (including lithium) at the same mining zone on May 20 this year with an exploration area covering 0.26 square kilometers, which features an estimated resource quantity of porcelain stone ore amounting to 26.87 million tonnes and an associated lithium metal oxide quantity of 100,000 tonnes.

Gotion High-Tech said it is stepping up investment in Yichun city since 2021 and has deployed there a comprehensive industrial chain that involves the development of lithium-contained porcelain stone ore, extraction of lithium carbonate, power battery production, etc.

In March 2022, Yichun Gotion Mining became the major shareholder of Yifeng County Huali Mining Development Co., Ltd., which has the prospecting and mining rights in the "Baishuidong" mining zone.
