Car and City: Li Auto posts YoY, MoM drop in Aug. 2022 registrations
In August 2022, Chinese NEV startup Li Auto recorded monthly registrations of 4,713 units, including 4,339 Li ONEs and 374 Li L9s, according to the data compiled by ZXZC Auto Research Institute ("GARI").
Li Auto saw its Aug. registrations plummet 49.9% compared to the same span of last year, while also tumbling 57.41% from the previous month.
Due to the sliding performance, Li Auto only ranked 20th among all auto brands by Aug. registrations of new energy vehicle (“NEV”) registrations on the Chinese mainland.
For the first eight months of 2022, Li Auto recorded a cumulative registration volume of 76,633 vehicles (+57.07% YoY), including 75,511 Li ONEs and 1,122 L9s.
In August, Hangzhou was honored the No.1 city by monthly registrations of the Li ONE and was also the only city with registrations exceeding 300 units.
There were six provincial capitals among the top 10 cities by Aug. Li ONE registrations, namely, Hangzhou (1st), Zhengzhou (4th), Xi'an (5th), Chengdu (6th), Wuhan (9th), and Harbin (10th). However, neither Beijing nor Guangzhou entered the top 10 rankings.
Shenzhen registered the most Li L9s in August, outselling the runner-up city, Chengdu, by 42 units.
