Magna opens new mechatronics engineering center in Suzhou
Shanghai (ZXZC)- On December 5, Magna, a world's leading mobility technology company, officially opened a mechatronics engineering center in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province of China.
The newly-built mechatronics engineering center plans to recruit over 100 software and hardware engineers and accept around 110 engineers who previously work at Magna's Kunshan technology center. The team will be dedicated to designing and developing smart mechatronics products for both Chinese and global markets, including the SmartAccess, a made-by-Magna intelligent electric-powered car door solution.
“Our designs fuse the capabilities of mechanical systems with the intelligence of electronic control systems to enable new ways of interacting with the vehicle,” said John O'Hara, Magna Closures, Lighting and Mirrors President, “the innovative solutions for opening and closing car doors we offer will not only ensure the driving safety, but also create more styling options for designers.”
Automakers and auto parts suppliers are taking intelligent mechatronics technology as an important development opportunity and an efficient method to further facilitate drivers when they gets in and gets out a car. Magna has developed a series of products to strengthen its presence in this area. The company's SmartLatch™ is a next generation side door latch where all functions and features are controlled electronically through an integrated Electronic Control Unit (ECU). This results in a safer vehicle while giving OEMs styling options unavailable with a traditional latch.
