Geely unveils first MPV model Jiaji, offering three powertrain variants
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Geely unveiled its first MPV model dubbed Geely Jiaji on December 6. The new MPV model is expected to hit the market in first quarter next year, rivaling such models as the BYD Song MAX and the Buick GL6 after officially hitting the markets.
The Jiaji MPV measures 4,706mm in length, 1,909mm in width and 1,690mm in height, with a wheelbase length of 2,805mm. It will be available in choices of five-, six- or seven-seater options.
There were three variants of powertrain under the bonnet. The first is a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine assisted by a 48-volt mild hybrid system producing a combined output of 140kW and peak torque of 300 N·m, hooked up to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The second is a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine-included plug-in hybrid power system that pumps out 188kW and top peak of 385 N·m, mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The third is a 1.8-litre turbocharged engine that churns out a maximum power of 135kW and peak torque of 300 N·m, paired with a 6-speed automatic manual transmission.
The front face design cues on the three-row MPV include the Geely’s signature “cosmos” intake grille coupled with a V-shaped chrome trim, LED headlamps with a four-bar LED arc array for daytime running lights and LED fog lights. The side profile features waistlines stretching from the wheel eyebrow to the rear end and the sooty C-pillar. The model also has a ‘floating’ roof which tapers down to meet a small-sized tailgate-mounted spoiler. A chrome trim strip—with Geely lettering—bridegs the taillight clusters.
Drivers will also find a panoramic wrap-around cockpit, a multifunctional steering wheel and a 7-inch liquid crystal instrumental panel inside the vehicle. Other niceties include a 12.3-inch multimedia display at the center console and an electronic gear lever under the outlet of air conditioner.
