MAHLE to open new R&D center in Changshu
Shanghai (ZXZC)- MAHLE China signed an investment agreement with Changshu National New & Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone (CNZ) to build a modern R&D center at CNZ, Jiangsu Province, as part of MAHLE Group's strategy to simultaneously optimize internal combustion engine and develop innovative e-mobility solutions.
Established in 2006, the Shanghai R&D located at MAHLE Technologies Holding (China) Co., Ltd (MTC) is one of MAHLE Group's 16 comprehensive R&Ds worldwide. The campus has a number of laboratories covering a total area of nearly 6,000 square meters, advanced testing and experiment facilities and an office that can seat over 200 engineers and technicians.
With the fast business expansion in China, MTC decided to set up a new R&D center at CNZ as the supplement to Shanghai R&D center so as to meet future demands in products development and further strengthen its indigenous R&D and system capabilities.
The new Changshu R&D center is expected to be completed by June 2020. It is in the vicinity of MAHLE Compressors (Suzhou) Co., Ltd, which saw its annual compressor capacity increased to 1.5 million units from 1 million units after its second-phase plant was inaugurated on November 28. Meanwhile, the compressor subsidiary signed an investment agreement for the third phase of plant that will work on producing electric compressors.
