China’s annual October Holiday has started today, the whole country will be on the move, eating and drinking with the family and then back home again. There won’t be much new news until next Friday so we will post extra many stories on strange and beautiful cars. Like this perfect Daimler V8 seen on a parking lot in front of a ‘business club’ near my house in Beijing! Wadde style these automachines had, looking royal in dark blue with fat tires and loads of chrome all over.

The Daimler V8 was the most luxurious version of the X308 Jaguar XJ which was made from 1997 until 2002. The 4.0 liter V8 pooped out 290hp and 390nm. There was also and even fatter supercharged variant of the V8 available with 370hp and 525nm. This blue car in Beijing was the base V8. The X308 was never officially exported to China but some came in via diplomatic channels or via foreign owned companies that were allowed to import their own cars until the early 2000’s. This particular car has black license plates indicating this indeed is a foreign company-car.
