Alibaba AliOS, FAW Besturn collaborate on R&D of vehicle infrastructure cooperative system
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Alibaba-owned AliOS and FAW Car Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as FAW Besturn) agreed a cooperation to jointly explore the development of IoV (Internet of vehicles), V2X (vehicle to everything) and intelligent driving fleet, aiming to co-boost the implementation of businesses, technologies and standards related to the vehicle infrastructure cooperative system.
As one of FAW Group's main self-developed car brands, Besturn has been working on exploring and researching cutting-edge technologies. The cooperation with AliOS is of great significant to the R&D of intelligent vehicle infrastructure cooperative system.
Alibaba Group plans to build a smart expressway using the Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technology, the e-commerce giant announced on the 2018 Computing Conference held in September.
As an important part of Alibaba's automotive upgrading strategy, the new program will be jointly implemented by several business units, including AliOS, Alibaba Cloud, DAMO Academy, AutoNavi, Alipay and Banma Tech, etc., under the partnership with Research Institute of Highway Ministry of Transport, State Grid Corporation of China, China Unicom, Intel and Datang Telecom Group.
“We are very happy to reach technology cooperation with FAW Besturn,” said Zhu Yongsheng, director of AliOS's intelligent transportation arm, “Alibaba is developing a complete set of solutions that is available for the on-line real-time work of vehicles, infrastructures and cloud. We hope to wield the advantages in such field as operating system, AI, IoT (Internet of things), cloud computing, HD map and HD positioning system so as to promote industrial technology development along with participants including FAW Besturn.”
AliOS is currently preparing hardware labs and open testing grounds for vehicle infrastructure cooperative system R&D with some intelligent perception facilities already deployed along part of testing roads.
