SGMW hits sales milestone of 1 million new energy vehicles
Shanghai (ZXZC)- SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), General Motors' joint venture with Chinese partners SAIC Motor and Guangxi Automobile Group, announced today its cumulative new energy vehicle ("NEV") sales had reached 1 million units.
The company owns the affordable all-electric model, the Wuling Hongguang MINIEV, which attracts consumers with its compact size and adorable appearance. According to SGMW, the model was being crowned the best-selling NEV model in China for up to 22 consecutive months.

After announcing the launch of the 2023 Baojun KiWi EV in conjunction with DJI, SGMW started volume production of the minicar released in collaboration with the world leader in drone and camera technology.

In addition, the automaker claimed that the right-hand-drive Wuling Air ev, the first Wuling-brand NEV model designed with the international markets in mind, rolled off the production line at its Indonesia-based plant on the same day. The model will hit the world's market on August 11 with Indonesia as its first destination. It will tap markets of India, Egypt, and other countries afterwards.
The automaker has also announced its foray into the hybrid electric vehicle ("HEV") field, under which its first HEV model, the Wuling Asta HEV, was launched earlier this month.
