The globally-competitive laboratory is the first of its kind dedicated to new energy vehicles in China.
Founded in March 2018, the NEVC is the first national technology innovation center for the automotive industry under the support of China's Ministry of Science and Technology. The center concentrates its R&D forces on nine areas, namely autonomous driving and V2X, fuel cell, power battery, electric powertrain, hybrid electric powertrain, electronic control, vehicle integration, lightweight technology, and other prospective technologies.
The newly constructed laboratory focuses on the energy efficiency development for new energy vehicles. It can also be used for hybrid-electric vehicles and traditional internal combustion engine vehicles, complementing China’s previous blank in this field.
The NEVC commented that the laboratory would facilitate more innovations and breakthroughs in low energy consumption technology field for automobiles, bringing energy-saving, safe, reliable and practical vehicles that run in different scenarios. The laboratory will provide automotive energy efficiency services for automakers and related industrial chains.
