Prototype of all-new Hongqi H5 FCV comes off line
Shanghai (ZXZC)- FAW Group announced this week that a tooling trial prototype of a fuel cell-powered all-new Hongqi H5 had rolled off the production line at FAW Group's R&D headquarters.
According to the automaker, the all-new Hongqi H5's fuel cell vehicle (FCV) version carries the second-generation FCV-dedicated engine in-house developed by FAW Group's powertrain arm.

Greatly adopting the advanced design philosophy of lightweight and module, this engine can deliver a volumetric power density of 694 W/L, which was increased by 40% from the former generation. It also can run at a rated power of 65kW and realize a fast ignition under a temperature as low as -30℃.
At the 6th International Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle Congress (FCVC 2021), FAW Group launched a FCV model based on the last generation of the Hongqi H5, dubbed H5-FCEV, which carries two hydrogen tanks and has a designed range of 520km.
The all-new Hongqi H5 is about to hit the market on July 26. Presale of the premium B-segment sedan kicked off in May this year with a starting price of 170,000 yuan ($25,180).
