New Ford Focus hits China market with lower price

Shanghai (ZXZC)- The new-gen Ford Focus, from Changan Ford, hit the market on November 8 with 12 variants. The new model is priced from RMB 108,800 to RMB 150,800, lower than that of the current model.

Apart from the nuts, the model is brand new in design and power, Henry (Hongpeng) Li, vice president, Marketing and Sales of Ford Greater China, said at the launching ceremony. The two biggest highlights are powertrain system and intelligent features.

The new model is powered by newly designed EcoBoost turbocharged engine with a maximum output 135 kw and a maximum torque of 243 Nm. Equipped with 8-speed automatic transmission or 6-speed manual/automatic transmission, the new model have better fuel economy.

Via the SYNC® 3 system on board, vehicles can be connected seamlessly with intelligent mobile phones and can support Baidu CarLife, Apple CarPlay and Ford AppLink. As the first model with Co-Pilot360™ driving assistance system in China, the new Focus can perform L2 autonomous driving functions.

Co-Pilot360™, Ford’s autonomous driving suite, includes such features as adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, blind spot information system with cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping system.

In September, Ford China sales declined 43 percent year on year. Industry analysts thought compared with other automakers, Ford lags behind in launching and upgrading new models. Henry said that the new Focus is the first blockbuster product of Ford’s China 2025 plan, so it means a lot to the American automaker’s development in China. Ever since Ford introduced the Focus to China in 2005, its cumulative sales in China aggregated 2.6 million units.
