Shanghai (ZXZC)- GAC New Energy Automobile Co.,Ltd (GAC NE) plans to launch the second-generation Gac Electric Platform (GEP) that boasts more space, lower power consumption and stronger performance, which will be put into operation in 2019, according to the report from the automaker’s new NEV strategy launching ceremony on November 13.

Gu Huinan, general manager of GAC NE, said that the company aims to achieve the production transformation from the 1.0 era to the 2.0 era, rolling out no less than two new models per year in the future based on the second-generation GEP.

The EV maker teams up with CATL to develop a new ternary-lithium battery with an energy density increased to 170-180Wh/g and improved safety performance, which is said to offer a range up to 600km in EV-only mode.

GAC NE is about to unveil an all-new BEV (battery electric vehicle) coupe code-named A26 that boasts a range up to 600km at the forthcoming Auto Guangzhou 2018. The A26 is likely to go on sale in April next year. Besides, the automaker plans to launch its second 2.0 era model between September and October in 2019.

As for the layout in vehicle intelligentization, GAC NE revealed that the models to be exhibited at the Auto Guangzhou 2018 will carry the L2 autonomous driving system and the L3 autonomous vehicles will be deployed next year. In addition, the system-wide OTA software capability will be added to future models.

The GAC intelligent NEV industrial park officially started construction in September, 2017 whose first phase with a planned annual capacity of 200,000 vehicles will be completed by the end of December and begin operation in 2019. The new plant is going to manufacture the A26 BEVs first and then introduce other all-electric car and SUV models covering a wide range of segments.

Moreover, the EV maker is about to unveil a new application at the Auto Guangzhou, which can provide consumers with such tailor-made services as charging, customer information management, on-line demonstration for car purchase intention, etc.
