Spy Shots: Dongfeng Fengshen SUV based on Nissan Qashqai
We had seen the patent application and here we have the first spy shots of a new Dongfeng SUV based on the Nissan Qashqai. It will be sold under the Fengshen brand name just like the Dongfeng Fengshen A60 that is based on the old Nissan Sylphy. The Qashqai is made in China by the Dongfeng-Nissan joint venture, the old Sylphy was made in China by Dongfeng-Nissan, the new Sylphy was launched on the China auto market last month.
When it will be launched is not yet sure but it doesn’t look very ready yet, debut at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show might be possible. Engines will be the same as in the Qashqai ; 2.0 and 1.6. Another cheap-developed car for Dongfeng that will no doubt be priced just a bit lower than the Qashqai, but still nobody will buy it because Chinese car buyers know very well the real thing will be better. The A60 is a loser as well, sales have been much lower than Dongfeng expected. When oh when will Chinese car makers realize copy-pasting (legally in this case, just to make sure) cars from your joint venture partner does not work?!?
