Shanghai (ZXZC)- FAW-Volkswagen's second SUV model dubbed the TAYRON (Chinese name, Tanyue) hit the market on October 22. Based on Volkswagen's MQB A2 vehicle platform, the new SUV model offers 10 variants with prices ranging from RMB 188,800 to RMB319,800. 

The TAYRON boasts a vivacious overall design in exterior. At the front face, the angular sleek headlights are symmetrically arranged on both sides of the intake grille, looking like a pair of wings spread out. The polygonal LED daytime running lights are also used in the T-Roc (Chinese name, Tange), FAW-Volkswagen's first SUV model hitting the market on July 30.

As to the side profile, the well-designed body lines and the D-pillar chrome trims stretching from the roof to the rear end are rather impressive. The new model, positioned as a mid-sized SUV, measures 4,589mm in length, 1,860mm in width and 1,660mm in height. Wheelbase of the TAYRON is 2,731mm.

The large-sized taillights are horizontally arranged, making the vehicle shaped with generous proportion. The logo “TAYRON” exists in the middle of the rear end. Besides, the SUV has a silver fender under the rear bumper.

Inside, the TAYRON largely adopts bright black elements. Decorated with chrome trims, the massive polygonal center console display is on the right side of the three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel. The straight and flat lines were used in the area of the door handle. In addition, the vehicle sports up to 18 ambiance lamps that will create a luminous light effect at night.

The TAYRON is outfitted with the 10.3-inch full liquid crystal instrument panel, the 9.2-inch touch screen, the HUD (head-up display), the MIB infotainment system and the panoramic holographic image system. Among the SUV models at the same level, the TAYRON is the only one that achieves Level 2 intelligent assist driving. Such facilities as the TJA (traffic jam assist system), the ACC (adaptive cruise control) 3.0 and the LKA (lane-keeping assist) endow the vehicle with functions of automatic car-following and lane-keeping even if in low-speed scenarios.

The TAYRON offers two engine variants. The first is a 1.4L turbocharged engine that generates power up to 110kW, hooked up to a DQ381 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The second is a 2.0L turbocharged engine, good for 162kW or 137kW based on different peak powers of two variants. The second engine is mated to a DQ500 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
