Hongqi L7 will hit the Chinese car market in 2013
The Hongqi L7 debuted at the Beijing Auto Show in April, the L7 is the short wheelbase version of the massive CA7600L state-limousine-parade car that debuted at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show. Earlier on we heard the Hongqi (Red Flag) L7 would only be available for the government but that doesn’t seem the case exactly. The government however will get it first when ‘delegates’ will be chauffeured around town during the ’18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China’ (wiki) in October. Next year however the L7 will come available for all…
Chinese media report the massive H7 will cost between 6 and 8 million yuan, or between 942.000 and 1.25 million USD. Power comes from a 6 liter V12 that poops out 405hp and 550nm. That seems underpowered since the H7 will have to compete with Rolls-Royce and Bentley. When development started Maybach was also stated as a competitor but those Germans are no longer around. Size: 6095mm/2008mm/1720. The long wheelbase car is 6395/2004/1720 and weighs 3200kg. Weight of the L7 might go down to some 2800kg. Still big, still heavy, this monster need at least 500hp, Hongqi better install a supercharger or a few turbo’s. Otherwise, a great looking machine, let it come!
