Shanghai (ZXZC)- In May 2022, NIO's new vehicle registrations stood at 6,474 units, growing 6.5% from the previous year, while also jumping 22.1% from the previous month, according to the data compiled by ZXZC Auto Research Institute (GARI).

Regarding May registrations of locally-made new energy passenger vehicles (NEPVs), NIO ranked 14th among all auto brands in China, following its domestic startup rivals Li Auto (5th), HOZON Auto (7th), XPeng (9th), and Leapmotor (13th).

There were a total of 37,449 NIO-branded vehicles registered through the Jan.-May period, representing a 12.4% growth compared to the same span of the last year.

The ES6 accounted for 42% of NIO's vehicle registrations in May, which were 3.3 percentage points higher than that of the previous month. The model recorded a 32.6% leap month-over-month in May registrations, while also achieved a 1.4% increase year-over-year. Among homemade NEPV models in China, the ES6 ranked 33th by May registrations, climbing 2 spots from the month-ago period.

By May registrations of the ES6, Hangzhou, Beijing, and Ningbo were the top 3 cities, while the volumes of the fourth and fifth ones were quite close.

The monthly registrations of the EC6 reached 1,565 units in May, tumbling 25% from the year-ago period, while evidently recovering from the previous month.

With regard to May registrations of the EC6, Ningbo and Hangzhou topped other cities as the only two with over 100 units registered, and both of them were from Zhejiang province. On the top 10 cities list, Jinhua (5th) and Wenzhou (8th) were also located in Zhejiang.

Last month, the ES8 registrations still declined both year-on-year and month-on-month.

In May, Beijing and Chengdu were the the top 2 cities by monthly registrations of the ES8. The May ES8 registrations of Jinhua were equal to that of Ningbo.

The ET7 boasted a 138.9% month-on-month hike in May registrations, serving as the biggest contributor to NIO's overall growth compared to April.

Hangzhou registered the most ET7s in May. Both Guangdong and Jiangsu provinces had three cities on the top 10 cities list by ET7 May regsitrations.
