Mazda China sales edge down 1.3% YoY from January to September

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Mazda delivered 21,910 vehicles in China last month, which slumped 25.4% compared with the previous year, according to the retail sales data released by Mazda Motor (China) Co., Ltd a few days ago.

For the first nine months, the Japanese automaker saw its sales in China edge down 1.3% year on year (YoY) to 210,715 units, the automaker said.

As to the sales performances of two major marketing channels, FAW Mazda's year-to-date (YTD) sales dropped 4.9% from a year earlier to 84,331 units, while Changan Mazda's YTD sales reached 126,384 units with a slight YoY growth of 1.2%.

ZXZC compiled the sales data of recent months and found out that Mazda has been suffering YoY drop in monthly sales from May to September.

In the fourth quarter, the Mazda CX-8 seven-seat family SUV will hit China's market via the channel of Changan Mazda. According to the details exposed before, the CX-8 will retain Mazda's KODO design theme (Soul of Motion), adopting the seven-seat cabin layout. It measures 4,955mm in length, 1,842mm in width and 1,733mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,930mm. Powering the vehicle is a 2.5L inline four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine featuring the SKYACTIV Technology, which is mated to a 6-speed automatic manual transmission.
