Audi, Huawei announce joint innovation on L4 automated driving

Shanghai (ZXZC)- On October 11 at HUAWEI CONNECT 2018, Huawei and global premium car maker Audi announced their future cooperative plan to conduct joint innovation in L4 autonomous driving area and showcased the all-new Audi Q7 as the embodiment of both parties’ state-of-the-art technologies.   

On July 10 this year, Huawei and Audi signed a strategic memorandum of understanding in Berlin to jointly develop ICVs. This newly-formed cooperation will further promote the comprehensive strategy between two parties.

“We focus on a joint development of highly autonomous driving functions and future-oriented vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications technologies. Audi has been proved to be one of the technology leaders in the domain of highly automated drive through many practices over the world. We are looking forward to cementing the partnership with Huawei in the future to bring substantial benefits for both parties,” said Saad Metz, executive vice president of Audi China.

William Xu, director of the Board and Chief Strategy Marketing Officer of Huawei noted that as vehicles get smarter, Huawei will take advantage of its leading ICT technologies to develop innovation technologies with Audi, one of the world's most successful premium car brands and jointly lead autonomous driving into the fast lane.

Huawei's Mobile Data Center (MDC) has been integrated into the Audi Q7 for autonomous cars’ driving in urban environments. The prototype was exhibited to the public at the HUAWEI CONNECT 2018.
