WM Motor delivers first batch of EX5, to hand over 100,000 EX5 cars next year

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Chinese electric vehicle (EV) startup WM Motor formally delivered the first batch of the EX5 volume car on September 28 in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province.

“This is a milestone for WM Motor, signifying that Chinese vehicle startups usher in an era of volume car delivery from now on,” said Freeman Shen, chairman and CEO of WM Motor.

He didn't disclose the concrete number for the first volume car delivery, while he said the startup will hand over 10,000 EX5 cars by the end of 2018 and aims to deliver 100,000 vehicles next year. In addition, WM Motor is going to deliver another two new models from 2019, the EX5 Pro and the EX6.

As the startup's first BEV (battery electric vehicle) model, the EX5 carries the battery pack with an energy density of over 140Wh/kg and a maximum storage closing to 57kW·h, which offers a combine range up to 460km.

The EX5 offers 6 variants with 3 mileage options in total, priced from RMB 186,550 to RMB 247,300 before the EV subsidy is given to buyers. The consumers in Beijing should pay RMB 112,300 to RMB 164,800 for an EX5 car after enjoys the subsidy.

According to local media, WM Motor started to receive orders of the EX5 volume car on e-commerce platforms from September 15 and has by far obtained 4,016 orders.

Freeman Shen also said that the company has set a long-term goal to build its new retail system, which will reshape the connection among human, vehicle and scenarios based on digital technologies. “We would like to reframe such industries as automotive financing, automobile insurance, vehicle maintenance, used-car transaction, car-sharing as well as battery cascade utilization in the dimension of big data.”
