FAW-Volkswagen gains champion by August PV sales in China

Shanghai (ZXZC)- In August, FAW-Volkswagen took the championship by PV sales in China with a total of 174,485 vehicles (including the Audi branded imported cars) delivered, a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 2.3%, the company said in its official WeChat account.

According to the data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), China's PV retail sales reached around 1.734 million units in August, dropping 7.4% over the previous year. FAW-Volkswagen still attained positive growth despite the YoY downturn in overall PV market.

The Volkswagen brand saw its sales up by 0.6% from a year ago to 117,214 units in August. The sales of the Magotan and the Sagitar reached 18,945 units and 30,729 units, rising 16.1% and 10.7% respectively. The sales of the Golf family grew 2.4% YoY to 16,681 units in the same month.

The sales of the T-ROC, the brand's first SUV model, kept a strong offensive with 3,063 units delivered in August. FAW-Volkswagen will launch its second homemade SUV model dubbed TAYRON on September 19. Meanwhile, the Jetta, the C-TREK and the Bora all achieved positive growth with their August sales amounting to 24,064 units, 3,104 units and 20,489 units respectively.

The Audi brand delivered 57,271 vehicles (including imported cars) last month, a YoY growth of 6.1%. As to the performance of specific models, the sales of the Audi A4L B-segment sedan and the Audi A3 compact sedan jumped 38.4% and 15.3% YoY respectively to 14,857 units and 8,299 units. Two SUV models, the Audi Q5 and the Audi Q3, gained month-on-month rise with their sales reaching 8,629 units and 6,031 units. Besides, 2,372 units of the Audi Q5L were handed over during the same month. The all-new compact SUV Audi Q2L will hit the market in the middle of October.
