Shanghai (ZXZC)- SVOLT, a Chinese power battery maker carved out of Great Wall Motor ("GWM"), announced via its WeChat account that the cell modules dedicated to the XPeng P5 rolled off the production line at its factory in Jintan district, Changzhou city on Oct. 19.

The XPeng P5 family sedan is XPeng's third production model with SVOLT serving as the cell module supplier of its 550-km-range version.

Manufactured at SVOLT’s AI-enabled factory in Jintan, where the battery maker is headquartered, the cell module adopts the company's unique cell stacking technology, and features low internal resistance and high safety assisted by the mid-nickel high-voltage safety system.

Notably, the mid-nickel high-voltage safety system utilizes the module thermal insulation design of SVOLT's Leng Feng (Chinese pinyin, meaning "cold bee") system, which can avoid the spread of the target cell thermal runaway, so as to guarantee safe rides for drivers.

SVOLT said the cooperative project with XPeng took a great leap in less than one year since it kicked off from scratch. The cell modules were put into volume production in August this year, indicating the all-new production line only took 2.5 months to go into the SOP (standard operating procedure).
