SAIC Motor, Ministry of Public Security to co-develop IoV application, self-driving road test

Shanghai (ZXZC)- SAIC Motor and Traffic Management Research Institute of the Ministry of Public Security reached a strategic cooperation agreement on August 30 to jointly develop applications of IoV (Internet of Vehicles) technologies and traffic security search. Meanwhile, they will conduct autonomous vehicle safety tests together.

Under the partnership, both parties will join forces to research and formulate the standards for data interaction and the communication interface connecting intelligent car-mounted terminal, autonomous vehicles as well as car-road synergy service platform.

Besides, two parties intend to jointly explore the ICV (intelligent-connected vehicle) digital identity authentication technologies and security certification mechanism based on the vehicle electronic registration identification.

The Shanghai-based automaker and the governmental institution are going to work together on autonomous vehicle road tests as well. To be specific, they plans to research the testing methods and testing technologies for self-driving road tests and help set the communications standards and build the library of safety scenarios.

By utilizing such data as driving, running, traffic environment and accidents, SAIC Motor will team up with its partner to research and analyze the drivers' behaviors under natural driving conditions so as to figure out the behavioral traits of drivers. In addition, two parties will learn how to apply their research achievements in ensuring drivers' safety and improving driving experience.
