The patent images of the Hengchi 5 first appeared on MIIT's website in November last year. The model's production version rolled off the assembly line in January 2022. A local media channel revealed it will hit the market in the second quarter this year.
As the first Hengchi-branded mass-produced model, the Hengchi 5 is positioned as a compact SUV model with a length of 4,725mm, a width of 1,925mm, a height of 1,676mm, and a wheelbase of 2,780mm.
According to MIIT's information, the Hengchi 5 is equipped with three large-sized displays in the cockpit—a 10.25-inch dashboard, a 14.6-inch console-mounted screen, and a 10.25-inch screen in front of the front passenger seat. In addition, it will carry an electric tailgate and suede-wrapped seats capable of heating and ventilation. Powered by multiple radars and cameras, the new vehicle will have the Level 2 driver assistant features.
The new all-electric model will be driven by a permanent magnet synchronous motor that can churn out an output of up to 150kW and a peak torque of 345N·m. It can sprint from a standstill to 100km/h within 7.8 seconds.
