The patent images leaked by the MIIT show that the new versions will feature the same exterior design as that of the existing model. Thus, they are not facelift ones.

The biggest difference relies on the power outputs of electric motor. According to the MIIT, the new variants' maximum outputs stand at 180kW and 194kW, both of which were lower than the 202kW for the existing Model 3 RWD version.

The two yet-to-be-launched new versions are armed with LFP battery pack, and measure 4,694mm long, 1,850mm wide, and 1,443mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,875mm.

On Nov. 19, Tesla launched an upgraded version of the China-built Model 3 Standard Range Plus (SR+) with the name shortened to Model 3 RWD and the post-subsidy price raised by 15,000 yuan ($2,355) to 250,900 yuan ($39,400). Only five days later, Tesla once again lifted price, resulting in the Model 3 RWD currently priced at 255,652 yuan ($40,140).

According to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), Tesla sold 52,859 China-made vehicles in November, 31,732 units of which were retailed in China, including 8,615 Model 3s.
