Gotion High-Tech starts building 50GWh battery manufacturing base in Hefei
Shanghai (ZXZC)- On Dec. 7, Gotion High-Tech broke ground on a new battery manufacturing base in Xinzhan High-tech Industrial Development Zone of Hefei city, the capital of east China's Anhui province, the company announced via its WeChat account, as part of the efforts to realize its annual battery capacity goal of 300GWh by 2025.

The Xinzhan battery base will be built in two phases and feature an annual capacity of 50GWh. Covering an area of 550mu (about 367,000 square meters), the first phase is expected to start production by the end of March 2023.
The new battery plant will supply world's leading automakers with Gotion High-Tech's new-generation batteries and relevant technologies, contributing to the company's implementation of global strategy.
According to Xu Xingwu, deputy dean of Gotion High-Tech Engineering R&D Institute, the Hefei-base facilities will utilize the company's all-new battery platform.
Lu Jun, deputy mayor of Hefei, said Gotion High-Tech's Xinzhan battery manufacturing project will play an important role in the development of Hefei's new energy vehicle (NEV) and intelligent-connected vehicle (ICV) industries.
Hefei aims to lift its NEV production capacity to 1.5 million units and generate an annual output value of NEV industry exceeding 300 billion yuan ($47.188 billion) by 2025, Hefei Municipal Administration of Science and Technology said in a draft policy paper as part of the release of the city's 14th five-year plan through to 2025.
As one of the main players in the country's power battery domain, Gotion High-Tech hit an annual capacity of 28GWh by the end of 2020 and is ambitious to increase the volume to 300GWh by 2025, according to the company's 2021 semi-annual financial results. Notably, the target is three times as much as the previously expected.
