According to the website of Tesla China, the all-wheel-drive Model Y High-Performance is priced at 387,900 yuan ($60,715). It features a NEDC-rated range of 566km and can zip from 0-100km/h within only 3.7 seconds.
The China-made Model Y hit the market in January 2021. With the delivery of a cheaper version, namely, the Model Y Standard Range (SR), in August, the monthly sales of the Model Y have been higher than that of the Model 3 for many months.
According to the data from the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC), the Model Y recorded insurance registrations of 13,408 units in October, accounting for up to 97% of Tesla's total insurance volume of locally-made vehicles. It was also honored the second-best-selling NEV model in China by Oct. registrations.
Of the 209,441 Tesla's made-in-China vehicles registered during the first ten months, 46% were contributed by the Model Y, according to the CBIRC.
Earlier this month, Tesla dropped the “Standard Range” monicker in China, simply calling the EV the RWD Model Y. Post-subsidy price of the Model Y RWD was raised by 4,752 yuan ($745) on Nov. 25 to 280,752 yuan ($43,945).
