The automaker didn't reveal the factors leading to the newest price increase. Some industry insiders said the prices was raised to make up the difference caused by the reduction of green-car subsidies.

This was the second-time increase on the price of the Model 3 RWD within one week. Launched on Nov. 19, the Model 3 RWD currently for sale is an upgraded version of the China-built Model 3 Standard Range Plus (SR+) with the after-subsidy price lifted by 15,000 yuan ($2,350) to 250,900 yuan ($39,280). Compared to the previous SR+, the new Model 3 RWD's range grew to 556km under CLTC (China light-duty vehicle test cycle) from 468km under NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) due to the use of 60kWh battery pack, while its acceleration of 0-100km/h rose to 6.1 seconds from 5.6 seconds.

The new made-in-China Model Y was also put into the market this month with prices remaining unchanged then. As the replacement of the Standard Range version, the new Model Y RWD saw its range change to 545km under CLTC from 525km under NEDC, while its acceleration of 0-100km/h increased by 1.3 seconds to 6.9 seconds.

Both the new Model 3 RWD and the Model Y RWD are expected for delivery in the first quarter of 2022, according to the information shown on the website.
