The Beijing-Benz joint venture has started to export the China-made Mercedes-Benz E-class L, the fist batch of 35 vehicles will go to South Africa. The China-made E-class L is extended by some 14 centimeters for more space in the back.

“It is the first time China is able to export luxury cars made in the country and is a great result on top of the company’s excellent sales this year,” said Xu Heyi, chairman of Beijing-Benz. “The company will look to strongly cultivate the global car market from now on,” Xu added.

The export of the E-class reveals the quality of Beijing-Benz’ products which have been affirmed by overseas buyers and show’s the company’s robust competitiveness in the international market, Xu said.

Although China’s domestic car brands have exported cars and have built overseas manufacturing bases, joint venture car brands have still tended to remain cautious about their prospects internationally.
