Lexus to roll out UX compact SUV, RX 7-seat SUV in China
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Toyota's premium car brand Lexus is set to bring the UX compact SUV and the RX 7-seat SUV to China, according to Chen Chen, the director of Lexus' China marketing unit.
The UX is the firm's compact SUV model. Sitting below the RX and NX models in the Lexus range, the UX's mass-produced model made its world premiere at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show in March. It wears Lexus' massive X-shaped intake grille at the front end, decorated with sliver chrome trims on the lower edge. Besides, the unique headlight cluster, the slim LED daytime running lights as well as the tusk-shaped grille around fog lights really catch the eye.
Inside, the UX is typical Lexus fare. The multifunctional steering wheel equipped with a paddle shift and the all-digital instrument panel create a modern looking. The Lexus UX 250h(the model unveiled in Geneva) is powered by the new 2.0L hybrid system from Dynamic Force series.
The RX is a mid-size premium SUV model under the Lexus. It currently has two versions ready for sale in China, namely, the RX200t and the RX450h and both of them adopt 5-seat layout. The Lexus RX 350L has made its world debut at the 2017 LA Auto Show, providing the 2-2-2 and the 2-3-2 seating charts. Reportedly, the to-be-launched RX 7-seat version measures 5,000mm in length, 1,895mm in width and 1,710mm in width, which is 110mm longer than that of the existing models. Its wheelbase measures 2,790mm, remaining the same as the outgoing models.
The RX 7-seat version is said to be powered by the 3.5L hybrid system, which can output a maximum combined power of 230kW. It aims to vie with other premium rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class and the Volvo XC90 after hitting the market.
