Geely Auto eyes 2 million-unit sales goal in 2020

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Geely Auto strives to achieve the 2 million-unit annual sales goal in 2020, Lin Jie, vice president of Geely Auto, said in an interview.

The data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) shows that the total vehicle sales nationwide for the first six months edged up 4.6% from a year ago. Particularly, the sales of self-owned brands in China climbed only 3.4% over the previous year. Compared with the generally tepid growth rate countrywide, Geely Auto still saw its Jan-to-June sales surge 44% to 766,600 units, completing 49% of the 1.58 million-unit sales goal of 2018.

According to Lin Jie, Geely Auto attained blooming sales performance in the first half of the year thanks to the well-matched products, sales channels and marketing strategy.

To accomplish the 2 million-unit sales target for 2020, Geely Auto will keep prioritizing its product matrix and sales channels.

Following the Emgrand and the Vision families, the automaker will build a new SUV series based on the Boyue. Besides, some new EV models, like the Emgrand EV450 and the Emgrand GSe, will be launched in the near future, so as to enlarge the proportion of EVs in each product family.

Moreover, Geely Auto will continue to push the sales channels entering the 3.0 era. By the end of June, there were 253 4S shops upgraded into the 3.0 era, and this number will be increased to 550 by the end of this year, according to Song Jun, vice general manager of Zhejiang Geely Holding Automobile Sales Company.
