Car and City: July registrations of Wuling Hongguang MINIEV
Shanghai (ZXZC)- In July 2021, the Wuling Hongguang MINIEV, a mini-sized BEV of SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), was once again honored the best-selling locally-built new energy vehicle (NEV) model in China. Its monthly insurance registrations reached 30,204 units, which were 21,361 units more than that of the runner-up Li ONE, according to the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC).
In July, the Hongguang MINIEV also scored a 612.9% hike compared to the year-ago period, when it officially hit the market.
For the first seven months of this year, the registrations of the BEV model amounted to 187,422 units, versus 4,667 vehicles registered in the same period of 2020.
As for the regional distribution, the top 3 cities by Hongguang MINIEV registrations in July were Taizhou, Hangzhou and Wenzhou, which were all from East China's Zhejiang province. Among the top 20 cities, Jinhua and Jiaxing were also located in Zhejiang, ranking 13th and 14th respectively.
Liuzhou, where the full-electric model is manufactured, ranked sixth with 448 Hongguang MINIEVs registered there in July.

Guangzhou were the only one of the four cities usually seen as China's largest and most developed urban metropolises—the other three are Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen—appearing on the top 20 list, ranking 4th.
It is noteworthy that the sales gaps among the top 20 cities were quite narrow. The No.1 city Taizhou outsold the No.20 city Haikou by only 264 units.
