FAW Group boasts H1 sales over 1.71 million, Hongqi brand YTD sales nearly reach 10,000 units

Shanghai (ZXZC)- FAW group posted a year-on-year sales growth of 7.1% with a total of 1,712,506 vehicles delivered from January to June, the group announced in recent days.

The Hongqi brand boasted an impressive sales performance of 9,363 units for the first six months, among which over 3,000 units were handed over in June. 

It is noteworthy that Hongqi brand's product strategy to attract young consumers has already procured some positive effects. According to the sales data, the deliveries of the multi-colored cars accounted for 60% of the Hongqi H5's total sales. Besides, the customers of post-80s and 90s generation made up more than 60% of all Hongqi H5 buyers.  

In addition, the other self-owned brands the Besturn, Junpai and Xenia delivered 47,344 units, 12,405 units and 21,020 units respectively in the first half of this year. The Besturn R9, the first model came after the sales channel merger of the Besturn and the Xenia, hit the market on May 26.

Driven by the robust sales performance of the Magotan, the Golf, the Audi A6L and the Audi Q3, the Sino-German joint venture FAW-Volkswagen saw its sales climbing 9.6% over the previous year to 955,803 units (including the Audi branded imported cars) for the first two quarters.

The Volkswagen brand's year-to-date sales grew 5.9% year-on-year to 686,948 units through June. To be specific, the Sagitar sports sedan took the crown of the best-seller model with its cumulative sales up to 149,895 units. Meanwhile, the deliveries of the Bora aggregated 119,653 units in the first half, jumping 16% from a year ago. The company plans to release its first SUV model dubbed T-ROC in the second half of 2018, which is expected to further promote the overall sales.

The Audi brand sported a year-on-year sales jump of 16.2% to 292,718 units for the first six months. The deliveries of the A4L and the A6L in the first half were 74,741 units and 67,861 units respectively, both recording year-on-year growth. Especially, the sales growth of the A4L was as high as 65%.
