Shanghai (ZXZC)- For the first half of 2021 (H1), the insurance registrations of NIO's three production models totaled 41,103 units, according to the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC). The volume made NIO the No.7 new energy vehicle (NEV) brand in China by the semi-annual insurance volume of locally-made vehicles.

Notably, NIO's monthly insurance volume hit an all-time high of 7,777 units in June. Both the ES6 and the EC6 recorded their highest-ever monthly insurance volume last month.

With 17,562 vehicles registered, the ES6 ranked 11th among China-made NEV models by H1 insurance registrations. The tally for the second quarter (Q2) amounted to 9,645 units, rising 21.8% from the first quarter of this year.

In Shanghai, where NIO's global headquarters are situated, a total of 4,016 ES6s were registered in the first six months. In terms of H1 ES6 registrations, Beijing, Hangzhou, and Shenzhen occupied the second to fourth places among Chinese cities, while their aggregation was still lowered than that of Shanghai. Among the top 20 cities, there were eight provincial capitals, namely, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Xi'an, Nanjing, Hefei, Zhengzhou, and Changsha. Hefei, where NIO China is headquartered, ranked 16th with 301 ES6s registered.

The EC6 ranked 14th among China-made NEV models by H1 registrations. As of June 2021, cumulative registrations of the EC6 reached 19,482 units since its delivery started in last September.

Shanghai still topped the other cities in China in terms of H1 EC6 registrations, followed by Hangzhou and Beijing. Except Wuhan, the other 19 among the top 20 cities by the first-half EC6 volume also appeared on the top 20 cities list for the ES6.

With an insurance volume of 8,802 units, the ES8 ranked 29th among China-built NEV models for H1 2021. Its monthly registrations in the first six months all failed to exceed 2,000 units.

As for regional sales performances in H1, Shanghai took up 20.7% of the country's total ES8 registrations. Following Shanghai, Beijing recorded registrations of 881 ES8s. The other four cities with ES8 registrations topping 500 units were Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, and Chengdu.
