China releases policy to boost IoV standardization system building

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Several days ago, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of (MIIT) and Standardization Administration (SAC) jointly released a series of guidance documents (hereinafter, the Guidance) with regard to the building of Internet of Vehicles (IoV) standardization system to promote a sound development of IoV industry and autonomous driving technologies.

According to the Guidance, based on information and communications technologies, IoV industry focuses on providing comprehensive information services and forming a new type of industrial ecosystem that deeply integrates such areas as automobile, electronics, information, communications, transportation, by means of data interaction and all-around connections between vehicles and other vehicles, roads, human and service platforms. A sound IoV development conduces to innovation of automobile industry and progress of driver assistance and autonomous driving technologies. In addition, it is also helpful to improve traffic efficiency, decrease accidents, save energy and lessen pollution.

The Guidance includes several main chapters, such as Intelligent-connected vehicle (ICV), information and communications as well as electronic products and services.

The Guidance defines the ICV standardization system framework with four major parts, the basis, the general specification, products and technical applications as well as relevant standards, in accordance with ICV's technological logic structure and other criterions. Additionally, the document makes clear of the direction to set standards for products and applications, like environment perception, decision-making warning, automated control and information interaction, etc.

According to the Guidance, the information and communications standardization system should be designed for the development of IoV information and communications technologies, Internet and facilities, as well as relevant applications and services. Moreover, the system building should serve for evolvement of some new technologies, such as LTE-V2X and 5G eV2X, in order to satisfy standardized demands that pertain to IoV application development.

What's more, the electronic products and services standardization system mainly support the standardization for automotive electronic products, in-vehicle information system, as well as services and platforms.
