The new Roewe 350 is the first car in the world equipped with Google’s mobile operating system Android. Time for a good look at all its functionalities. Connection to the outside world goes trough a 3G network from operator China Unicom, the network is called Inkanet. Owners of a 350 can log-in here: http://inkanet.pateo.com.cn/.

Inkanet SD card, actually a Kingston-made, with 16G memory for music, movies or whatever one likes.

Live weather reports.

Start screen.

Phone, text messaging and email.

Blue Tooth connectivity with mobile devices.

GPS, agenda.

These are the indexes of Shanghai and Shenzhen stockmarkets, live. China is a little different: green is down and red is up. The screen so, shows a bad day.

Stockmarket; crashing.

The Inkanet-assistance center.

Besides functions mentioned the OS also controls the normal stuff like the CD player and radio. The Android OS-system is an option and costs 4000 to 6000 rmb. The Inkanet-system is free for the first two years, Roewe calls that a ‘trial-period’. After two years user needs to pay a fee every year, Roewe doesn’t say how much.  A nice Roewe 350 will set you back around 100.000 rmb.
