Of the new vehicles ordered last month, over 10,000 units were the AION Ys. Offered in seven trim levels, the 2022 AION Y hit the market on Nov. 1 with prices ranging between 109,600 yuan ($17,110) and 157,600 yuan ($24,610) after incentives.
Aside from the AION Y, the AION family still has four models for sales, namely, the AION V Plus, the AION S Plus, the AION LX, and the AION S.
The AION V Plus is a mid-sized full-electric SUV that carries the NDA (Navigational Driving Assist) system and adopts the so-called “magazine” battery boasting great safety performance. It came with three variants based on ranges, namely, 500km, 600km, and 702km.
As the upgraded version of the AION S, the AION S Plus is a very aerodynamic vehicle, with a drag coefficient of only 0.211Cd.
GAC Group's board of directors has approved GAC AION to independently develop trial battery manufacturing lines with 336 million yuan ($52.461 million) to be invested, according to an announcement GAC Group issued last week.
The project is an important part of the “Neutron Star Strategy” GAC released in April at the GAC Tech Day. The strategy is aimed at creating a new era of low-carbon and new energy travelling. Through deeply and extensive research into the industrialization application of power cells and electric cores, GAC will continually work towards creating a battery that is like a neutron star: small, yet densely packed with extreme speed and power.
