China has over 65,000 charging stations by end of May

Beijng (ZXZC)- China had a total of 65,100 charging stations and 644 battery swap stations at the end of May, 2021, according to the China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance.

The biggest vehicle market in the world increased its publicly accessible charging outlets by 16,200 compared with April, 2021 to 884,409, and jumped 60.6% compared with the same month of last year. At the end of 2020, China had more than 807,000 public charging outlets. In the past 12 months, namely from June, 2020 to May, 2021, the monthly average installation was about 27,800.

By the end of May, Guangdong Province outnumbered other provinces in terms of the number of charging stations. There were 9,603 charging stations in Guangdong, far more than the number of Jiangsu Province (5,998) and Zhejiang Province (5,309). Shanghai and Beijing had 5,278 and 5,196 charging stations respectively.

10 operators had more than 10,000 charging piles in China at the end of last month, with TELD (218,821), State Grid Corporation of China (196,484) and Star Charge (193,274) taking the lead over other providers.

Meanwhile, China had a total of 644 battery swap stations at the end of May. Beijing had 215 swap stations, followed by Guangdong Province (103), Zhejiang (64), Shanghai (39) and Jiangsu (38). NIO was the second biggest swap station operator with 223 swap stations across the country, following Aulton, which plans to build 10,000 battery swap stations within five years.
