NIO also stated that as one of the key parts for NIO's point-to-point navigation assisted driving scenarios, the PSP service will be constructed simultaneously with NIO's expressway battery swap stations. This will help users quickly locate battery swap stations and achieve a fully automatic battery swapping experience, making expressway journeys more convenient.

On November 15, 2023, NIO announced that it would begin rolling out the Banyan 2.2.0 OTA version to NT2 models in batches, starting with those running Banyan 2.0.8 CN or higher and having passed the filing process. Key new features to the Banyan 2.2.0 CN include the PSP function (Beta) for expressway service areas and enhancements to the NOP+ navigation-assisted expressway driving experience.

The new PSP service has garnered significant attention. It allows vehicles, while driving on expressways with NOP+ activated, to autonomously navigate from the main expressway through exit ramps to the target service area, proceed to the power swap station, and complete the power swap. After the swap, the vehicle exits the station, returns to the main expressways, and resumes navigation with NOP+. The process supports queuing for swaps, detours around obstacles, and avoiding pedestrians in complex scenarios. It means that the PSP can be seamlessly integrated with NOP+ and deeply incorporates NIO’s power swap experience, enabling full-process automation and continuous navigation during power swaps on expressways.

Additionally, NIO also announced that as of May 20, it has built 800 power swap stations along expressways across China, connecting over 700 cities nationwide.
